Excerpts from Gurujī’s seminar on Svātantryasūtram (The aphorisms on Absolute Freedom) —
The Lord doesn’t speak with words; He is a feeling. So, you put that feelings into words. It’s not an emotion; it’s a feeling. I don’t know… there is no other way to define this with this language. My Guru used to say that life is a feeling. It’s a feeling only. It’s not something real, yes? (solid), it’s a feeling. Because, what is life? What you are receiving through your senses, yes? a feeling. Your perception; this is life. When you receive from your mind impressions too, yes? (images), all that is called life. It’s really not very important, but it’s impressive. It’s impressive; it’s not important, but impressive… like the finale of football world cup, it’s impressive, yes? but it’s stupid. But it’s impressive! If you think about that… who cares about the winner really?! But it’s impressive. So, something can be impressive but stupid at the same time. Only the Lord is impressive and important. The rest, who cares.
What is important and impressive all the time is the Lord.
What is important and impressive all the time is the Lord. When one person thinks like this, that person is really intelligent. The Lord… whether you love the Lord or whether you hate the Lord, it doesn’t matter, yes? The important thing is that you contemplate on the Lord (Śiva). This is the only important thing. Why is it not important… your feeling towards Him? No, because He is like fire. Whether you approach fire with love or hatred, it’s the same! You will be burnt. So, the important thing is remembrance. This is the important thing. Even if you say, “Oh Lord, why are you making my life so horrible, why? why?”, the important thing is that you remember Him. Or you are remembering Him, “Oh, thank you Lord for my life, very good life”, it’s the same… because you are remembering Him, your mind is meditating on Him.
What you hate is what you love, and what you love is what you hate.
That’s why all the enemies of Lord Kṛṣṇa (for example) in india, they are great saints. They are considered great saints. Because they hated so much Lord Kṛṣṇa that they all the time meditated on Him. So they are Holy. Do you understand? They are holy! So when Lord Kṛṣṇa killed them, they immediately attained Liberation. Because you have to love someone very much to hate that person very much too, yes? Because the opposites meet with each other. What you hate is what you love, and what you love is what you hate. When one realizes this Truth, if that person is not supported by the Lord, that person will collapse! When you realize that all the things you hate, you love (if you realize completely, 100%), you collapse! You collapse! To tolerate that Truth revealed, you need to be a Jīvanmukta (a great enlightened person).
If the Freedom of the Lord is revealed to you (all of a sudden), you collapse. Because it’s so impressive that you cannot tolerate. You can die; it’s high voltage.
Apparently it’s simple… you realize that all the things you hate, you love and vice versa… apparently it’s simple. But when you realize that Truth in you, that mixture of things, yes? that ignorance, you collapse! You need the support of Bliss (of His Bliss). Without that support, you cannot tolerate. That’s why that truth is not revealed to people. And they live in peace… because that revelation is not with them. If that revelation is with them, they cannot live in peace. Collapse! Some people go crazy or die. I am not joking. In the same way, a revelation of the Lord without His support, yes? the person will collapse. If all of a sudden His Freedom, yes? (the Freedom of the Lord) is revealed to you… all of a sudden, you collapse. Because it’s so impressive that you cannot… you cannot tolerate. You can die; it’s high voltage.
It is not in His nature to reveal Himself; in His nature is to hide Himself.
If you think that this life around is important or impressive, you have to see the Lord! This is nothing. All the people around, superstars, nothing… in comparison to the Lord. When He reveals Himself to a person, that person, if he is not ready and supported by Him, that person will collapse. There is all the time this problem with theory vs practice. In theory, you are Śiva. So you should not collapse with the revelation of Śiva. But in practice, most of the times, people will collapse. Except some special people that can tolerate… special disciples… they are very advanced. But they bring that from another life (from the previous life). So, in theory, the Lord can be revealed in any person, at any moment. Yes, it’s real. He can do that, at any moment. But in general, He won’t do it. Because the person could collapse… or maybe not. But He won’t do it. It is not in His nature to reveal Himself, all the time, No… on this plane of existence. In His nature is to hide Himself.
